The Europa League kicks-off on Wednesday evening as FC Midtjylland welcomes Sturm Graz to MCH Arena.

Both teams turn their attention to European business after domestic victories over the weekend, and a competitive clash should be on the cards in Denmark.

FC Midtjylland claimed victory when they last hosted the Austrians in 2022, and will be confident of picking up an important win on the opening night of the league phase.

FC Midtjylland team overview

FC Midtjylland warmed up for Wednesday's Europa League encounter with a hard-fought 2:0 win against Viborg in the Danish Superliga on Saturday. Late goals from Philip Billing and Cue-sung Cho secured the points for Mike Tullberg's side.

The Wolves have enjoyed an excellent run of results, picking up eight victories from their last nine competitive fixtures. Strong at the MCH Arena, Tullberg's men claimed wins in five of their last seven home fixtures, and now sit second in the Superliga, two points behind AGF.

The Danes secured their place in the Europa League group phase with a comfortable 6:0 win against KuPS in the final playoff round.

Head coach Tullberg is unable to call on three first-team players this week. Ovie Ejeheri, Mikel Gogorza, and Darío Osorio remain sidelined with injury issues.

Sturm Graz team overview

Sturm Graz makes the trip to Denmark after an excellent 2:0 win against RB Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga last weekend. Goals from Tomi Horvat and Seedy Jatta secured victory after the hosts were reduced to ten men in the first-half.

Jürgen Säumel's side have enjoyed an improved run of form, picking up four wins from their last five games since a painful 5:0 defeat against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League qualifiers. Sturm lost three of their last six games before back-to-back wins against SC Rothis in the OFB Cup and the aforementioned Salzburg.

Head coach Säumel has three expected absentees ahead of Wednesday's Europa League matchup. Axel Kayombo, Daniil Khudyakov and Arjan Malic are expected to miss out for the Austrians.
