Estoril Praia begin the new Liga Portugal campaign after struggling to find much winning form in their pre-season campaign. 

Vasco Matos’s side picked up a 3:0 win against Atletico CP in their first warm-up fixture but have since failed to win any of three subsequent summer contests. 

The hosts were held to back-to-back draws against Torreense and Belenenses after a 2:0 defeat at Alverca. Out-of-form since the end of last season, Estoril have now won only one of 12 games played since mid-March. 

The Canarinhos have lacked quality in the final third, with only eight goals scored in their last 11 league games of last season. Four of their five most recent Primeira Liga games ended with three goals or fewer.

Head coach Matos has no reported injury issues this week.

Famalicao make the trip to Estoril after an impressive 2025/26 campaign.Carlos Carvalhal’s side enjoyed a superb season, eventually finishing fifth in the Primeira Liga. 

A strong finish to the campaign saw the visitors remain unbeaten in their last 12 fixtures, picking up six wins and six draws in that period. 

Since then, Carvalhal’s side has been similarly solid in pre-season, securing three wins and four draws from their eight warm-up fixtures. 

Famalicao won this fixture 1:0 last season, and their recent head-to-head record against Estoril should give them confidence before Friday’s opener. The visitors secured victories in each of their last four encounters since April last year.
