Elche vs Betis prediction 18.08.2025 | La Liga

La Liga 2 was one of the most exciting leagues in Europe last season. Elche had their ups and downs, but eventually, they sneaked into the promotion zone and returned to the strongest Spanish competition after two years of absence. Elche tried to step up this summer, but they remained one of the teams with the lowest budget in La Liga, and it will be a success if they avoid relegation. Elche had a solid preseason with four wins and four defeats. In the last test, they won 1-0 against Hercules. 

Elche seems weaker than last season as players like Nicolas Fernandez Mercau, Nicolas Castro, Jose Salinas, and Agustin Alvarez left the team. All of them had a huge role in the success they achieved. Elche added a few interesting names this summer. The biggest addition is probably Federico Redondo (who came from Miami). Elche also signed Alvaro Rodriguez (Real Madrid), Martim Neto (Benfica), Alejandro Iturbe (Atletico Madrileno), and Victor Chust (Cadiz). 

Yago Santiago is injured and will not play in the opening round. 

In the last few years, Betis have established itself among the top six or seven teams in La Liga. Fans hope to push higher, but that seems like a big, unrealistic step right now. Betis didn't play well in the preseason as they won only two of six matches. In the last test, Betis lost 3-1 against Malaga. 

Betis seems weaker than last season as many important players from last season left the team, including loanee Antony and youngsters Johnny Cardoso and Jesus Rodriguez. Betis added some excellent players like Valentin Gomez (who came from Velez Sarsfield) and Gonzalo Petit (Nacional). Additions are also Nelson Deossa (Monterrey), Rodrigo Riquelme (Atletico Madrid), Junior Firpo (Leeds), and Pau Lopez (Toluca). 

Isco is injured and will not play on Monday night. Iker Losada, Nelson Deossa, Ez Abde, Marc Roca, and Diego Llorente are questionable, and their statuses are unclear for the first round.
