On Thursday evening, Djurgarden and Chelsea will face off against each other in the first leg of the Conference League Semi-Finals at 3Arena in Stockholm.

Djurgarden, a 12-time Swedish champ, finished fourth in the previous two seasons and were not even close to winning another title. Due to a football calendar different from that of most European countries, the season in Sweden just began, and Djurgarden had a very bad start. They are sitting in 10th place with just seven points in five rounds - already nine points away from the top spot, although with a game played less. However, the popular "Blue Stripes" had a fantastic run in the Conference League, easily reaching 1/8 Finals and then eliminating Pafos and SK Rapid. Now, they will face the main contender for the tile in one of the biggest games in the club's history.

Chelsea are steadily improving after that disastrous 2022/23 season when they finished 12th. Last year, the Blues finished sixth, and this year, they are in a good position to secure a top-five finish and the Champions League appearance next season. Right now, they are in fifth place with 60 points - two away from third-placed Newcastle but also on a level with points with 6th-placed Nottingham with a game played more than the Forest. So, they are definitely in a good position but have to continue winning points to secure CL. When it comes to Conference League, the Blues were fantastic, winning nine of ten games thus far. Expectedly, they are a massive favorite to reach the Finals, with the bookies offering odds of around 1.05.

Djurgarden vs Chelsea pick: Chelsea to win and cover the -1.5 AH spread

Djurgarden had their ups and downs recently, but at home, they have been pretty bad. In the last four matches in all competitions, they won once, drew once, and lost twice with only one scored goal - 0.25 per game. So, expecting a good performance against Chelsea seems unrealistic. Also, their best win in a very long time was against SK Rapid (4:1). However, we have to take that win with a pinch of salt because Rapid received a straight red card only seven minutes into the game.

Meanwhile, Chelsea won back-to-back games against Everton and Fulham. And in the Conference League, the Blues have been absolutely fantastic, winning nine of ten matches - 90%. Also, seven of those nine matches were by two or more goal difference.

Simply, Chelsea are a much better team overall, and considering how dominant they were in the Conference League along with all the above, we expect another comfortable win for the Blues.
