- Competition: World Cup Qualifiers
- Date: Thursday, 9th October, 2025
- Kickoff: 19:45 UK / 20:45 CEST
- Venue: AEK Arena (Larnaca)
On Thursday evening, two teams from Group H, Cyprus and Bosnia & Herzegovina, will face off against each other in the World Cup Qualifiers. Cyprus are sitting in 4th place with just four points, and this is a must-win game for them to catch up with the top two teams. Meanwhile, Bosnia and Herzegovina look to bounce back after losing the previous game vs Austria.

These teams met in March in the World Cup Qualifiers when Bosnia won 2:1 in Zenica. Yet, it was a truly close match that could have gone either way. Despite Bosnia having more chances and more ball possession (56%), Cyprus were a more dangerous team with more xG (1.39 vs 1.02).
In total, these teams met five times, with Bosnia and Herzegovina winning three times and Cyprus winning the remaining two matches.
Regarding the number of goals, four games went over 2.5 goals. Meanwhile, we saw both teams scoring in four out of five H2H games as well - 80%.
Cyprus team overview
Cyprus are ranked #128 on the FIFA World Ranking List and #45 in Europe (out of 55 teams). They have never reached any major tournament, which will hardly change any time soon. In the UEFA Nations League, they have constantly been in League C without a real chance of moving up.
Cyprus opened these Qualifiers with a win over San Marino, but after that initial win, they only secured one point in the remaining four matches. Right now, the desired second place is already eight points away, and it is unreal to expect they can overcome that.

Bosnia and Herzegovina team overview
Bosnia are still searching for their first World Cup appearance since 2014 in Brazil. In the UEFA Nations League, they consistently moved between League A and B. Just before the WC Qualifiers, they once again dropped out of League A, but were in a really tough group with Germany, the Netherlands, and Hungary.
In the World Cup Qualifiers, "the Dragons" are sitting in the top spot with 12 points. However, they are on a level with Austria, and with one game played more. Right now, they are looking like a primary candidate for second place (behind Austria) and the World Cup Playoffs.
For the upcoming game against Cyprus, the squad will be without Sead Kolašinac and Ermedin Demirović, who are out with a knee and a foot injury.

Prediction
Cyprus were pretty bad throughout the Qualifiers, but did well at home. They won 2:0 vs San Marino and, more impressively, drew 2:2 with Romania. Since Bosnia and Herzegovina are a team that heavily relies on home pitch, we believe Cyprus could score, especially since Cyprus has already shown they can score against Bosnia in Zenica.
Bosnia and Herzegovina have scored at least once in all of their five games in the World Cup Qualifiers and should also score against Cyprus.
The previous h2h game, a few months ago, finished as a 2:1 win for Bosnia & Herzegovina, with both teams creating more than enough chances to score.
Considering all the above, we expect an exciting game with both teams scoring at least once.
3 Reasons why both teams should score
- Cyprus scored four goals in two WC Qualifier home games
- Bosnia and Herzegovina scored at least one goal in all five WC Qualifier matches
- We saw both teams scoring in the previous h2h game (2:1 for Bosnia)
