Corinthians have a chance on Thursday night to finally stop their small two game skid when Sao Paulo visit the Corinthians Arena. Only three points separate the clubs. Corinthians sit in 13th while Sao Paulo rest a little higher in 9th. Even though the standings point in one direction, the bookmakers lean toward Dorival Júnior’s team, and you might understand why once you remember how steady they can look at home, even if consistency remains an issue. In this preview, I walk you through their head to head record, the main injury updates and a few betting angles that seem worth considering.

Copa do Brasil
These two Brazilian rivals have met ten times since 2023, and Sao Paulo controlled most of that stretch. They collected six wins, although they only kept two clean sheets along the way. Corinthians managed two victories, while two matches ended level. Those games produced an average of three goals, which tells you the fixtures tend to open up rather than drift into dull stalemates.
Corinthians team overview
Corinthians enjoyed a genuinely promising spell between mid October and early November, stringing together three wins without conceding. That kind of defensive run had not happened since May.
Then the mood shifted again. A 2–1 loss away to Bragantino set things back, and the defeat to Cearó prior to to the break added a bit of frustration among supporters.
The urge to bounce back feels strong, and their home form gives them at least a small foothold. They won three of their last four matches here, which matters, even if nothing feels guaranteed at this point.
Dorival Júnior’s side will, however, do it without Charles due to suspension and several injured players. Hugo Souza deals with a heavy dead leg, Raniele struggles with a hamstring issue, Andre has an ankle problem and Vitinho continues his recovery from arthroscopy. One bit of positive news: José Martínez returns after serving his one match ban.

Sao Paulo team overview
Sao Paulo also enter Thursday’s match carrying a few doubts after a 2–2 draw with Flamengo and a 1–0 defeat to Bragantino. Their form on the road has been tricky all season.
The Sovereign collected only two wins in their last ten away matches, and in five of those, they lost without scoring, which makes you hesitate before trusting them fully.
Even so, you cannot ignore the one stat that tilts things back in their favour. The head to head record leans heavily toward Sao Paulo, who won each of the last three meetings with an 8–2 aggregate.
Their injury list, however, remains long. Jonathan Calleri, Ryan Francisco and André Silva continue to recover from cruciate ligament damage, while Leandro Mathias and Juan Dinenno deal with knee issues of their own.

Prediction
Looking at how both teams defend lately, It is almost certain that chances will appear at both ends. Corinthians shipped three goals in their last two games and Sau Paulo conceded as many in their last two too. The visitors still carry enough attacking threat to force an open match, and with recent meetings between the two sides also known for being entertaining, I am therefore going for a 2-2 draw.
Three reasons we expect at least three goals in this game
- Sao Paulo shipped at least two goals in two of their last three away games.
- Five of the last six meetings between Corinthians and Sao Paulo ended with over 2.5 goals.
- Corinthians failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last ten matches.
Main prediction -
Over 2.5 goals
