Serie B
Last season, these teams met twice, with Como winning at home 1:0, while the game in Genoa ended as a 1:1 draw. However, objectively, Como were a better team in both matches and probably deserved to win. Looking further back, these met a total of eight times, most of them in Serie B (six). Como managed to secure three wins, Genoa two, while four matches ended as draws.
Regarding the number of goals, we saw three or more goals in half of their games, while both teams scored on six occasions.
Como team overview
Since the takeover of the Hartono Family, Como easily moved from Serie D in just a few years. Last year was their first in Serie A after a very long time, and they did more than OK. The team from Lombardy finished 10th, not even close to the relegation zone.
Over the Summer, they heavily improved the team, and it is fair to expect them to be among the teams battling to secure Europe. This year, besides securing the Coppa Italia 1/32 Finals, they won three points in the first two Serie A rounds and sit in 9th place.
In the last game vs Bologna, Ignace Van der Brempt suffered an injury and had to leave the field after only 27 minutes. According to credible sources, the defender will most likely miss several upcoming games. However, they have many good backup options in that spot, and his absence shouldn't be a big problem.

Genoa team overview
Since securing a return to Serie A in the 2022/23 season, Genoa has had two solid following seasons, finishing 11th and 13th. However, unlike Como, we do not see them as one of the teams that have the quality to finish close to the European spots. We firmly believe that a mid-table finish is possibly their maximum.
This year, they opened the season with a 2:0 win over Vicenza in the Cup and then won just one point in the following two Serie A games.
During the international break, the club managed to add Maxwel Cornet and Jean Onana on loan deals. Both have been on loan last season at Genoa, but haven't played too much.

Prediction
Both teams have been excellent for this type of bet thus far, considering they were under 2.5 goals in both Serie A games. While Como had some good offensive displays, Genoa looked terrible offensively, failing to score in the first two matches vs Lecce and Juventus. In those two games, they only averaged 0.33 xG and just three shots on goal! Still, that shouldn't surprise us because the Griffins scored just 37 goals in 38 rounds last season.
Yet, defensively, both teams looked very good, and we wouldn't be surprised if they continue with such performances.
In the previous season, both h2h games ended with fewer than three goals. Considering all the above, an under 2.5 goals should be the safest bet for this Serie A tie.
3 Reasons why we should see fewer than three goals
- Both teams were under 2.5 goals in both Serie A games
- Genoa failed to score a goal in the first two games
- The last two h2h games ended with fewer than three goals
Main prediction Como - Genoa
Under 2.5 goals
