Chelsea

Chelsea team overview

Chelsea turn their attention to Champions League business after a well-deserved 2:0 win at Burnley on Saturday. Goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez secured the points for Enzo Maresca´s men.

An excellent run of form in the past couple of months has seen Chelsea win eight and lose just one of their last ten games across all competitions. The Blues now sit second in the Premier League, six points behind leaders Arsenal.

Goals should be expected in a high-quality end-to-end contest at the Bridge. Chelsea have seen at least three goals scored in seven of their last nine games, while three of their last four home fixtures also finished with both teams on the scoresheet.

Head coach Maresca is unable to call on three first-team players this week. Injured trio Levi Colwell, Romeo Lavia and Cole Palmer remain sidelined for the Blues.

FC Barcelona

Barcelona team overview

Barcelona come into Tuesday´s UCL contest in high spirits after a commanding 4:0 win against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday. Ferran Torres bagged twice in a straightforward victory for Hansi Flick´s side.

El Blaugrana have been in fine form in recent weeks, recording five wins while losing just one of seven previous matches. The high-scoring Catalans have bagged 21 goals in their six most recent matches, with at least three scored in their four previous contests.

Defensive vulnerabilities have made Barcelona a particularly solid choice for goal chasers. Flick´s men have seen over 2.5 goals scored in each of their last 14 games while only one of their 11 previous matches did not see BTTS.

Barcelona boss Flick has five potential absentees for the trip to London. Injured trio Pablo Gavi. Marc-André ter Stegen, and Pedri remain unavailable while Lamine Yamal and Marcus Rashford face late fitness tests.

Prediction

Both teams are in good form, and an entertaining battle seems likely to develop at Stamford Bridge. BTTS is my best bet for what could prove a back-and-forth UCL contest in London.

Three Reasons Why We Expect BTTS

  1. Chelsea have seen BTTS in 10 of their last 14 matches against Barcelona
  2. Chelsea have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 4 matches (Champions League)
  3. Barcelona have seen BTTS in 10 of their last 11 matches
