Bolton returns to Toughsheet Community Stadium looking to bounce back to winning form after a 2:0 defeat at Cardiff last weekend. Second-half goals from Omari Kellyman and Chris Willock secured a well-deserved win for the Bluebirds.

A disappointing run of results in recent weeks has dented Bolton’s hopes of automatic promotion. The Trotters dropped 12 points in their last six League One fixtures, with just one win recorded in that period. 

Recent performances have been poor, with Bolton failing to score in three of their last five games. All three of those fixtures finished with under 2.5 goals scored.

Despite their disappointing recent form, Bolton sit fourth in the division, three points ahead of sixth-placed Stevenage, albeit having played one game more.

Head coach Steven Schumacher could make one or two changes from the side that slipped to defeat in Wales last weekend. Robert Apter and Amario Cozier-Duberry could be in line for starting roles after their second-half introductions against Cardiff.

Corey Blackett-Taylor is the only confirmed injury absentee for the home side.

Stevenage come into Tuesday’s League One contest on a high after a hard-fought 1-0 win at promotion-chasing Bradford last weekend. Daniel Kemp’s goal just after the hour proved the difference as Boro secured another narrow victory.

The in-form visitors have now claimed 1-0 wins in three of their last four League One fixtures, with a goalless draw at Rotherham their only dropped points in that run.

Up to sixth in the division, Stevenage now find themselves inside the playoff places and firmly in contention for a first-ever promotion to the Championship.

Low-scoring outcomes have been a consistent theme for Alex Revell’s side, with one goal or fewer scored in seven of their last eight League One matches.

Head coach Revell will be keen to retain faith in the much of the same side that edged past Bradford. The Boro are likely to make at least one alteration, though, with Lewis Freestone likely to drop out after his withdrawal just ten minutes into the win at Bradford. Dan Sweeney is set to deputise for the away side.
