Belgrano vs Newell's Old Boys prediction 23.09.2025 | LPA

Belgrano comes into Monday night's LPA contest after a surprisingly entertaining 3:1 win against Newell's in the Copa Argentina last week. Franco Jara's brace secured a place in the semi-finals for Ricardo Zielinski.

While Belgrano had the edge last week, four of the last seven meetings between these sides finished deadlocked, and a similar outcome could be on the cards this weekend. In addition, the hosts have been held in six of their last 11 LPA matches. 

Zielinski's men have struggled for form in recent weeks, failing to win four successive LPA matches (D2, L2) before their cup victory last time out.

Head coach Zielinski is likely to name the same XI that claimed victory at Estadio Marcelo Bielsa last week. Juan Velázquez remains a long-term absentee.

Newell's Old Boys return to LPA action looking to bounce back from last week's disappointing Copa Argentina defeat. 

Cristian Fabbiani's side have struggled for form in recent weeks, losing four of their last five matches, while they have won just one of seven LPA games since mid July.

A lack of attacking firepower remains a big issue for the Lepers. The visitors bagged just seven goals in their last eight league fixtures. Typically involved in low-scoring outcomes, five of their six most recent league games finished with fewer than three goals scored. 

Head coach Fabbiani has three players unavailable for Monday's LPA matchup. Injured trio Lucas Hoyos, Gaspar Iñíguez and Luciano Herrera remain sidelined for the visitors.
