Super League
These teams have met twice this season. Basel won 2:1 at home, and the other match at Letzigrund Stadion in Zurich finished as a 1:1 draw. Looking further back, in the past ten H2H games, Basel won five, and Grasshoppers won four.
Regarding the number of goals, six of the past ten H2H games ended with three or more goals, while both teams scored in the same number of games (six).
Basel team overview
Basel had a great season behind them, winning the domestic double. However, they failed to continue with such performances across competitions. The popular RotBlau were eliminated from the domestic Cup in the quarter-finals and failed to reach the knockout phase of the Europa League. They also sit in 4th place in the Super League with only 43 points from 27 rounds, already 21 points behind 1st-placed Thun. So, to say that it has been an underwhelming season thus far would be an understatement.
After a 2:1 win over Lausanne, Becir Omeragic and Xherdan Shaqiri spoke to the media. Omeragic said it was a perfect afternoon and that they have to continue winning. Shaqiri, on the other hand, praised the young Giacomo Koloto, calling him amazing and saying he secured them the win with two goals.

Grasshoppers team overview
Grasshoppers came close to relegation last season, having to secure survival in a playout game against Arau. This season, the situation for the 27-time Swiss champs is not much better as they are currently sitting in 11th place with 24 points from 27 rounds. Pretty much their only good performance of the season was in the Cup, where they secured the Semi-Finals. There, they will meet Lausanne Ouchy (a second-tier team) and have a great chance to reach the Finals. So, it's not impossible to get relegated and to secure Europe (via Cup) in the same season. However, despite having a very poor season, only one team is directly relegated from Super League, and they are not really close to dropping to 12th place (10 points away).
After a 1:0 win over Lugano, coach Gerald Scheiblehner spoke to the media. He spoke positively about the team's performance and was very happy with a win. The coach praised their defensive performance and bravery on the ball, calling a win highly deserved.
For the upcoming game, coach Scheiblehner will be without Abdoulaye Diaby, who received a red card in the previous game.

Prediction
Basel won just once in the past four games. They also secured just five wins in the past 16 games, but none of those were by more than one goal difference! At home, the situation is even worse, failing to win in nine of the past ten matches.
Grasshoppers are doing OK right now and have lost just twice in eight matches. But even in those two losses against Zurich and Luzern, Grasshoppers lost by one goal difference. In those matches, they deserved at least draws and had higher xG. So, with a little more luck, they could be on an eight-game unbeaten run.
Considering all the above, we expect a close match and Grasshoppers to cover the +1 AH spread in this Super League tie.
4 Reasons why Grasshoppers should cover the +1 AH spread
- Basel won once in the past four games
- Basel haven't won by more than one goal in the past 16 matches
- Grasshoppers lost just twice in the past eight matches
- The previous H2H game ended in a 1:1 draw
