Basaksehir vs Gaziantep prediction 22.12.2025 | Super Lig

After four consecutive seasons in which Basaksehir finished among the top five in the Super Lig, Nuri Sahin's team seems significantly weaker in the current campaign. However, recent form and seven points in the last three league rounds could spark some optimism around the team. The positive run ended on Thursday in the cup, when Basaksehir lost 1-0 on the road against Galatasaray. The guests played solidly and maybe deserved more, but the hosts' better efficiency was enough to leave Basaksehir empty-handed.

After a minimal defeat against Galatasaray, Basaksehir's head coach, Nuri Sahin, was disappointed. He said,  "We are disappointed because we have deserved much more. We showed good performance. We didn't convert the chance while the opponent used the opportunity from our mistake."

Olivier Kemen and Christopher Operi are on international duty at the African Cup of Nations and will not play for the next few weeks. Also, Yusuf Sari is unavailable for the upcoming match due to injury, while Deniz Turuc is questionable.

The 2025/26 season could be the best for Gaziantep in recent years. In the previous campaigns, Burak Yilmaz's team were often part of the relegation dogfight, but that shouldn't be the case this season. However, the last three games in which Gaziantep had only one draw with two defeats will raise some concerns. Especially troubling was the most recent outing, as Yilmaz's team lost 5-2 on the road in the cup against Rizespor. The visitors' defense was terrible that time, and they will have to do much better to remain a mid-table team. 

The last few days were turbulent in Gaziantep. Burak Yilmaz first stepped down as head coach, but only four days later, the club agreed to have him continue in his previous role. It remains to be seen how all that will affect Gaziantep in the coming weeks. 

Nazim Sangare and Muhammet Gunes are suspended, while Ali Ablak and Salem M'Bakata are unavailable for the trip to Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium due to injuries. Also, Melih Kabasakal and Tayyib Sanuc are questionable.
