Cameroon enjoyed a solid group-stage run. They've collected seven points after a draw against the defending champions, the Ivory Coast, and wins over Mozambique and Gabon. In the round of 16, they edged South Africa 2-1, despite being outplayed in possession and shot attempts.
Like the Indomitable Lions, Morocco also finished the group stage on seven points, beating Comoros and Zambia and earning a point against Mali. The hosts secured their quarter-final spot with a narrow 1-0 win over Tanzania. The Atlas Lions have struggled at times to convert dangerous moments into goals, but a win is a win. Across four matches so far, they have conceded just once.
Historically, Cameroon hold the edge in the previous head-to-head battles, but Morocco have won the two most recent meetings, in AFCON 2018 qualification and 2021 African Nations Championships. Cameroon pose a real threat, yet this is their toughest test so far, with the hosts also backed by a home crowd. We predict both teams to score at 2.25.
