Quarterfinalists at the 2025 Eurobasket, Poland started the new campaign with a 90-78 defeat of Austria. Jerrick Harding was the star of the show in Gdansk, as the naturalized American point guard scored 32 points on his debut. Being the favourites of Group F, Poland looked strong and confident.

The Netherlands beat Latvia in Riga, and some might call this result a sensation, given Latvia's 11th place in the FIBA rankings. However, Latvia played the first match under new coach Sito Alonso, and their lineup was far from the strongest, to say the least.

Poland should've been much bigger favourites ahead of this game, but it seems that the Dutch winning in Latvia impressed the bookies way too much. The Poles will triumph in the Netherlands and shouldn't have too many problems in beating the handicap of -2.5 points.
