Zwolle vs Groningen prediction 13.03.2026 | Eredivisie

Zwolle are on course for another mid-table season. Still, they are only five points above the relegation playoff position and probably need a couple more wins to secure their place in the Eredivisie for the next year. The last few weeks were rough for Zwolle as they collected only three points in the previous five games. In the most recent outing, they played 1-1 on the road against Sparta Rotterdam. Although the hosts were considered favorites, Zwolle matched them for most of the game, making the point a deserved result. 

Zwolle's big strength is their performances at their home stadium. They lost only two of the last nine games at the MAC³PARK Stadion across all competitions. The last few weeks weren't easy for Zwolle, but at home, they will feel confident enough. 

Zwolle have some problems with missing players. They will be without Samir Lagsir, Jamiro Monteiro, Jasper Schendelaar, Damian van der Haar, and David Voute on Friday night. 

Groningen are solid this season, too. With five points more than Zwolle, they not only don't have worries about possible relegation, but also could sneak into the Conference League playoff. However, Groningen have to fully return to the right track. Dick Lukkien's team was on a six-game losing streak before beating Ajax 3-1 at home last weekend. The teams were fairly even for most of the game, but Groningen's much better efficiency was enough for all three points.

Groningen's head coach, Dick Lukkien, was very satisfied after a victory over Ajax. He said, "I felt there was so much space on the pitch to get into those half-spaces behind that last line. I think we did that brilliantly in the second half. We created five chances, and because of that, in my opinion, we deservedly won."

Mark Hoekstra and Stije Resink are injured and will not play on Friday night. Also, Oskar Zawada, Etienne Vaessen, and Travis Hernes are questionable, and their statuses will be clearer closer to the kickoff.
