Wolfsburg are having a terrible season and are in danger of suffering relegation for the first time in the 21st century. The Wolves were constantly a couple of points away from dropping into the relegation zone, but managed to avoid it. Still, a poor campaign led to the sacking of coach Paul Simonis and the appointment of Daniel Bauer during the winter break. Unfortunately, that coaching change seems to have had little effect, as they acquired only four points in five rounds under him. 

After a 1:0 loss against FC Koln, coach Daniel Bauer spoke to the media. He said it was a good effort by his team, but also expressed disappointment about the result. The coach said they created many chances but failed to convert them. 

Unlike Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund are playing a really good season. Despite losing their last two Champions League games in January, the Prussians secured a spot in the knockout phase, where they will face Atalanta in mid-February. In the Bundesliga, Dortmund have been consistently among the top four, and after a four-game winning streak, they have climbed to 2nd place. With Bayern Munich earning just one point in their last two matches, Dortmund are now only six points behind the league leaders.

After a 3:2 win over Heidenheim, coach Niko Kovac spoke to the media. He said they fought hard after falling behind and then showed character and resilience to hold on to lead. When asked about title ambitions, the coach said they need to keep earning points and not get too ahead of themselves.
