Wehen will be looking to progress beyond the first round of the DFB Pokal for the first time since 2020 when they host Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on Wednesday. The visitors are heavy favourites according to the bookies, and rightly so in my opinion. Read my Wehen Wiesbaden vs. Bayern Munich preview for the latest news and predictions.
H2H stats
Wednesday’s game will mark the first ever meeting between Wehen Wiesbaden and Bayern Munich. Wehen have one of the worst records against German top-flight sides, having lost each of their last three such fixtures — all of which were DFB Pokal first-round matches — by an aggregate score of 9–3.
Wehen Wiesbaden team overview
Wehen have not been able to replicate their form from the 2022–23 campaign, in which they finished fourth. SVWW finished outside the top eight last season and have started the 2025-26 campaign poorly.
Nils Döring’s side have won only one of their three games so far, and worse still, they have shipped five goals in the last two games alone.
However, Wehen fans will be motivated by the fact that their side's only win this season came at this ground, and the club is unbeaten in seven home games.
Wednesday’s game comes too soon for Orestis Kiomourtzoglou, Ben Nink, Robin Kalem and Florian Hübner, who are all out with injuries.

Bayern Munich team overview
Bayern Munich returned to Bundesliga title-winning ways last season, finishing 13 points above second-placed Leverkusen. However, the overall sentiment around the club was not positive.
The Reds were eliminated by PSG in the Champions League quarter-finals and also failed to win the German Cup. There have been plenty of improvements so far this season, with Kompany and Co winning both of their competitive games in the 2025–26 season.
One of those victories was an impressive five-star display at the Allianz Arena on Friday night, where they scored six goals against RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga and kept a clean sheet.
Jamal Musiala has been dealing with an injury, so Wednesday’s game comes too soon for him. The visitors' injury list also includes Hiroki Ito, Alphonso Davies and Tom Bischof.

Prediction
Given how well Bayern Munich are currently playing, it's not a question of whether they will win this game but rather how many times the back of the net will shake. The Reds scored 16 goals in their last five matches, with two of those matches resulting in at least four goals. Given that Harry Kane and co. are playing against a Wehen side that hasn't kept a clean sheet in seven matches, I predict a 4–1 win for the visitors.
Three reasons we expect at least four goals in this game
- All the last four games of Wehen produced at least four goals.
- Bayern scored at least four goals in two of their last four matches.
- Bayern won their last three first round DFB Pokal games 4+ goals.
Main prediction -
Over 3.5 goals
