KuPS will be looking to keep their hopes of winning the Finnish top flight alive when they play VPS Vaasa away this weekend.
The visitors have had to watch other teams win the division since their promotion at the end of the 2021 season. Jarkko Wiss’s team finished third and fifth in the last two seasons, including last year when they finished 17 points behind the top two, but this could be their year. The Canaries sit only three points behind the current league leaders and boast a win in two of their last three league outings. Meanwhile, VPS are one of those Finnish clubs for whom avoiding relegation is the main objective every season. Vaasa's first league home game of the 2025 campaign saw them beat Oulu 4:3, but their subsequent encounters have been very close. They have scored fewer than two goals in each of their last six Veikkausliiga games at the Hietalahti Stadium, and only one of those matches saw more than three goals scored.
Games between VPS Vaasa and KuPS are not known for being entertaining either. Two of the last three ended with fewer than two goals, and I expect Saturday’s game to end similarly.
