Viborg and Copenhagen launch the 2025–26 Superliga campaign on Friday night as both teams aim for that all-important opening win.
For Viborg, this will be their fifth consecutive season in the Danish top flight. Their best performance in the previous four seasons was in 2022–23, when they finished fourth. With only three places separating them from relegation at the end of the last two campaigns, the Greens will be looking to improve this time around but they need to show that against the Champions.
Copenhagen won their third title in four seasons last year but found it much harder than in the previous two occasions. The Lions finished only one point above Midtjylland in second place and failed to beat their rivals in two play-off fixtures, losing 4:2 and drawing 1:1.

The champions ended the 2024–25 season with two consecutive wins in the Superliga, and also defeated Silkeborg 3–0 in the Danish Cup final. They won only one of their three pre-season friendlies, but I expect them to perform well on Friday.
