Utrecht have another solid season. They are in the top half of the table and have a solid chance of reaching the Conference League playoffs. However, Utrecht's form has been shaky lately, as they have won only one of their last eight matches across all competitions. In the most recent outing, Ron Jans' team lost 2-1 at home against PSV. Despite the loss, it was one of Utrecht's best performances in recent weeks, and they arguably deserved at least a point.

Utrecht have not made any moves in the current transfer window. However, there are rumors that Porto, Benfica, Ajax, Eintracht Frankfurt, and West Ham are interested in Utrecht's best player, Souffian El Karouani. The left back has two goals and nine assists in 16 Eredivisie matches, and it will not be surprising if he leaves Stadion Galgenwaard this January. 

Sebastien Haller, David Min, and Davy van den Berg are injured and will not play on Tuesday against Twente. Also, Zidane Iqbal is questionable and his status will be clearer closer to the kickoff. 

Twente are another team that should have solid chances for at least the Conference League playoff. They are excellent lately with ten games in a row without defeat. In the previous match, Twente played 1-1 at home against Zwolle. The hosts ended with xG of 2.03, while the guests had only 0.39, so Twente were pretty unfortunate to win only one point. Now, the team from Enschede will travel to Utrecht, where they haven't won since 2013.

After failing to beat Zwolle in the previous league round, Twente's head coach John van den Brom was disappointed. He said, "We needed too many chances to score again today. It's been a bit of a story for FC Twente so far. We're all pissed off. I'm trying to stay calm now, but that's been a bit harder because it's a repetitive story. We're playing well, creating chances, but scoring is where we lack."

Taylor Booth and Mees Hilgers are injured and will skip the upcoming game in Utrecht.
