A place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Under-21 Euros will be at stake when Spain and England go head-to-head at Spartak Trnava's home ground this weekend.
Spain U21s topped Group A with seven points out of nine, while England U21s qualified from Group B despite earning only four points.
The Little Red qualified for this tournament in style with nine wins from ten games, and they have maintained this form in Slovakia. Santi Denia’s team beat Slovakia and Romania on Matchdays 1 and 2 respectively before securing first place in the group with a 1–1 draw against Italy earlier this week. Spain U21s have now reached the quarter-finals of five successive EUROs, but their fans will be concerned that they have only won the tournament once in the last four editions.
Meanwhile, England Under 21s lifted the trophy for the first time since 1983 in 2023, winning every game from the group stage to the final. Having also qualified for this tournament in convincing fashion, they will surely be hoping to repeat that feat but things have not gone well for them so far. The young Lions picked up only four points from their three games in Slovakia so far, despite facing teams such as the Czech Republic and Slovenia.

None of the last four meetings between the two nations produced more than two goals, and given that England have conceded an average of one goal per game in Slovakia, I expect a tight match on Saturday evening.
- Best Tip: Under 3.5 goals
- Spain U21 vs England U21 prediction: 1-1

Spain U21 team news
Roberto Fernández has led the line for Spain U21 in all three games so far and the SC Braga forward is expected to keep his place in the XI.
Fernandez is likely to be joined upfront by Raúl Moro and Alberto Moleiro who have also started all three games so far, while Pablo Torre is pushing for a start in the engine room.

England U21 team news
England U21 didn’t suffer any injuries in the defeat to Germany in Nitra last time out, but head coach Lee Carsley is expected to make changes to the side that was on the pitch from kick-off in that game.
Having been withdrawn at the start of the second half in that encounter, the likes of Jonathan Rowe and Samuel Iling-Junior are among those likely to be demoted to the bench this weekend.
