Real Oviedo managed to secure promotion to La Liga after ten seasons spent in La Liga 2. Their goal for the season has been "only" to survive, but it became obvious from the start that could be a massive challenge. For the upcoming game against Atletico Madrid, coach Almada will have Santiago Colombatto back after a one-game suspension. The 29-year-old midfielder has been one of their best players recently, and his presence should be a big plus for Real Oviedo. Meanwhile, David Costas and Oviemuno Ejaria, who missed the previous games with injuries, should remain sidelined. 

Atletico Madrid are playing a very good season. Maybe they could be a bit better in La Liga, considering they are in 4th place with 48 points from 25 rounds and are 13 points away from the top spot. Still, to be fair, they are averaging around the same number of points compared to the last few seasons, and they cannot be too unhappy. 

However, the team from the capital impressed most in Cup competitions, reaching the 1/8 Finals of the Champions League and the Semi-Finals in the Copa del Rey. In the Copa del Rey, Colchoneros dominated Real Betis in the quarter finals, beating them 5:0, and then continued with another amazing performance against Barcelona, beating them 4:0. Now, after the Oviedo game, they will only have to finish the job in the second leg. With Real Madrid already eliminated from the competition, Atletico have a really good chance to win their 13th Cup title.

After a 4:1 over Club Brugge, coach Diego Simeone spoke to the media. He was very happy with the win and qualifying in the top 16. When asked about a possible next opponent, the coach said they aren't focusing on the opponents and are only looking to develop and improve as a team.
