Real Madrid vs Osasuna prediction 19.08.2025 | La Liga

Madrid kick off their La Liga campaign under the guidance of Xabi Alonso, after completing just one pre-season friendly since their disappointing elimination at the FIFA Club World Cup. 

Following their 4:0 reversal against PSG in the USA, Real claimed a 4:0 win against Austrian opponents Tirrol.

Usually a reliable choice at the Bernabeu, Los Merengues claimed victories in 16 of 19 La Liga games last season. While Real finished the season in second spot, they finished the campaign with the best home record in the division, losing just two games all season. 

Head coach Alonso has several absentees this week. The hosts will be without Antonio Rüdiger, who is serving the first of a six-match domestic ban carried over from the end of last season.

Jude Bellingham and Endrick are both ruled out due to injury, while Ferland Mendy and Eduardo Camavinga are expected to miss the opener as they continue to recover fitness.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to start at right-back, while Arda Güler has impressed in midfield following the departure of club legend Luka Modric.

Jagoba Arrasate’s side open their La Liga campaign with a daunting trip to the Bernabéu following an inconsistent pre-season campaign. Los Rojillos lost four and won just one of six summer friendly fixtures.

While Osasuna enjoyed a strong ninth-placed finish last season, their away record was one of the poorest in the division. Alessio Lisci's side won just two of 19 road games, eventually finishing the campaign with the 5th worst away performance of the season.

Head coach Lisci has some selection headaches this week. Rubén García and Iker Benito will both undergo late fitness tests to assess their availability for Osasuna’s opening fixture of the new campaign. Summer signing Valentin Rosier is expected to make his debut at right-back.

Ante Budimir will lead the Ossasuna attack on Tuesday after scoring 21 La Liga goals for Los Rojillos last season.
