Following a sluggish start to the 2025/26 League One campaign, Ruben Selles’ side have shown clear signs of improvement, suffering only a single defeat in their last five outings. 

In the EFL Trophy, Reading are level on points with Swindon and West Ham U21s, meaning a win on Tuesday could potentially send them top of the group if the other fixture ends in a draw. Selles is expected to field a strong lineup, aiming to build momentum and maintain their upward trajectory in both league and cup competitions.

MK Dons travel to Berkshire in a confident mood after an excellent week in League Two, taking maximum points from their last two matches. Following a five-game winless run across all competitions (D1, L4), Graham Alexander’s side have bounced back with successive victories - a 2-1 win over Shrewsbury followed by a convincing 3-1 success against Gillingham. Those results have propelled the Dons into the top seven of the League Two standings. 

However, their EFL Trophy campaign has been far less convincing. They remain winless in the competition so far, having suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to West Ham U21s a fortnight ago. Despite that setback, Alexander can take comfort from having a fully fit squad available for selection and will likely rely on the attacking partnership of Max Dean and Ellis Harrison, who have been key contributors in recent weeks.
