After a fairly successful FIFA Club World Cup tournament, where they reached the Quarter-Finals, Palmeiras will continue their Serie A campaign with a home match against an in-form Mirassol.

Palmeiras have been Brazil's best or second-best team in the past three seasons. This year, "The Big Green" did fairly well in all competitions, easily reaching the Copa Libertadores knockout phase, domestic Cup 1/8 Finals, and did well in the FIFA Club World Cup, as we already mentioned. In Serie A, the Big Green were at the top of the league's table, but after losing back-to-back games, they dropped to 5th place. However, they are still only five points away from the top spot and with one game played more than the first-placed Flamengo.

Mirassol secured promotion last year after finishing second in Serie B. Even though they have one of the lowest total market values in Serie A this season, they are doing more than OK. Right now, they are in ninth place with 17 points from 11 matches - a comfortable six points away from the relegation zone and with two games played less than 17th-placed Vitoria.

Palmeiras vs Mirassol pick: Under 2.5 goals

At home, in Serie A, Palmeiras have been absolutely great for this bet as all five games ended with fewer than three goals. The main reason for that is a fantastic defensive performance, not only in the Serie A but in the Copa Libertadores and Copa do Brasil as well. In nine home games thus far, they kept a clean sheet on five occasions - 56%.

Meanwhile, Mirassol have also been very good defensively, keeping a clean sheet in back-to-back games against Sao Paulo and Sport Recife. Away from home, Mirassol went under 2.5 goals in 67% of their games (four of six).

Considering all the above, we believe that an under 2.5 goals bet is the safest option for this Serie A tie.
