Newcastle have a terrible season. Although being one of the wealthiest teams in the Premier League, the Magpies are far from the desired level, as they seem stuck in mid-table. Newcastle didn't play well lately as they lost two of the last three matches across all competitions. In the most recent outing, Eddie Howe's team lost 3-2 at home against Everton. The home side dominated ball possession and had significantly more shots on goal, but the guests' efficiency left Newcastle empty-handed.

Newcastle's manager, Eddie Howe, was disappointed after last weekend's defeat to Everton. He said, "I felt attacking-wise, we could still do loads better today. But we had enough ball around their box. We had enough crossing opportunities, half-chances, and Sandro's volley hit the end. It could have been a very different result again. But we're just making too many individual errors. It's costing us goals at the other end. We can't do that at this level."

Newcastle have some problems with injuries. On Wednesday night, they will be without Emil Krafth, Bruno Guimaraes, Fabian Schar, Lewis Miley, and Valentino Livramento. Also, Jacob Ramsey is questionable.

After finishing in 15th position in the Premier League last season, Manchester United improved dramatically in the current campaign. They are third in the standings, and it will not be surprising if the Red Devils return to the Champions League. The last few weeks were excellent for Manchester United, as Michael Carrick's team won six of the last seven matches. In the previous game, they won 2-1 at home against Crystal Palace. The hosts ended with xG of 2.16, while the guests had only 0.39, so anything other than Manchester United's victory would be undeserved. 

Everything changed for Manchester United when Michael Carrick came. With him in charge, the Red Devils won six of seven matches. There is a lot of optimism around the squad, and with the way the team is playing, it wouldn't be surprising if the board offers him a permanent job beyond the current campaign. 

Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Dorgu, and Mason Mount are unavailable for the trip to St. James' Park. Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, and Lisandro Martinez have some problems, too, but they could recover in time for Wednesday night.
