Newcastle come into Saturday's FA Cup clash in high spirits after a dramatic 2:1 win against Manchester United on Wednesday. William Osula's goal on the stroke of full-time secured a much-needed home win for the Magpies.

Eddie Howe's side had lost each of three previous home PL contests before Wednesday's vital victory. Newcastle now sit 12th in the division, but only five points behind seventh-placed Brentford. 

High-scoring outcomes have been a recurring theme for Newcastle this season. Each of their last 11 games finished with a minimum of three goals scored. All 11 of those matches also finished with both teams on the scoresheet, and similar outcomes seem likely again this weekend. 

Head coach Howe has several absentees this weekend. Lewis Miley, Fabian Schär, Valentino Livramento, Bruno Guimarães and Emil Krafth are all ruled out, while Nick Woltemade is also unavailable for selection.

Manchester City make the trip to Tyneside after a disappointing 2:2 draw against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday. Despite taking the lead twice, the Citizens were denied victory with goals from England internationals Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson securing a share of the spoils at the Etihad. 

Before Wednesday's disappointment, City had enjoyed a fine winning run with victories collected in six previous fixtures, including a 3:1 win against Newcastle in the EFL Cup.

Recent encounters between these sides have been engaging, with a minimum of three goals scored in four of their last five meetings. Three of their four most recent encounters finished with both teams on the scoresheet.

Head coach Guardiola has four potential absentees this weekend. Joško Gvardiol and Mateo Kovačić are ruled out, while Nico O’Reilly and Max Alleyne remain doubts for this fixture.
