Madrid is the setting for Friday’s friendly contest as Morocco take on Ecuador in a World Cup warm-up matchup at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Both nations have secured their place in next summer’s finals, but Morocco have shown more consistency in recent months.
This will be Morocco’s first fixture since the controversial AFCON final in January while Ecuador return to action after a comfortable win against New Zealand last November.
Set to meet for the first time, a competitive and closely fought encounter is expected, with Morocco coming into the contest as slight favourites to maintain their solid run.
Morocco team overview
Morocco return to action following the dramatic conclusion to the AFCON in January. The final was overshadowed by controversy after Senegal walked off in protest at a last-minute penalty awarded to Morocco in extra time, before eventually returning to complete the match.
The game then went to penalties, where Senegal held their nerve to secure victory on the night.
However, in a stunning twist last week, the African football authorities overturned the result and awarded the title to Morocco last week.
The Atlas Lions have enjoyed a remarkable unbeaten run in the past year. Morocco are unbeaten in each of their last 24 fixtures since August while they have lost just one of 40 previous matches.
Low-scoring outcomes have been relatively frequent, with eight of their last 12 games, including three of their four most recent matches, finishing with under 2.5 goals scored.
Mohamed Ouahbi takes charge of his first Morocco fixture this weekend following the surprise departure of Walid Regragui last month. The recently appointed head coach has a 28-man squad available. Youssef En-Nesyri and Sofyan Amrabat are notable absentees from the selection.

Ecuador team overview
Ecuador arrive in Spain looking to build on a comfortable 2-0 win against New Zealand last month. Goals from Nilson Angulo and Leonardo Campana secured a well-deserved victory in New Jersey.
Prior to that success, the Ecuadorians had been held to three successive friendly draws in October and November.
Now unbeaten in their last 15 international fixtures, low-scoring draws have been a consistent theme in recent results. Ecuador have been held in seven of their last nine internationals, with all seven games producing two goals or fewer.
Over a longer period, Sebastián Beccacece’s side have seen 11 of their last 18 matches finish level, with eight of those ending goalless.
Head coach Beccacece has a large 35-man pool available for Friday's international friendly. Cincinnati midfielder Bryan Ramírez is one of four uncapped players named in the selection.

Prediction
Low-scoring outcomes can usually be expected when Ecuador are involved, and another tight international encounter seems likely this week.
Under 2.5 goals is my best bet at Wanda Metropolitano.
Three Reasons Why We Expect Under 2.5 Goals
- Ecuador have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 9 matches
- Ecuador’s last 8 matches have averaged just 0.8 total goals per game
- Morocco have seen under 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 7 matches
Main prediction Morocco - Ecuador
Under 2.5 goals
