Monaco vs Lyon Betting Tips - Over 2.5 Goals
Monaco will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to five matches when they host Lyon in a vital fixture in the battle for European qualification positions.
Placed third and seventh respectively, the hosts find themselves four points ahead of their visitors this weekend, with both teams fighting in a tightly contested top half of the table. Just five points separate second-placed Marseille and Lyon, with Nice, Lille and Strasbourg all in contention for a place in next season's Champions League.
Adi Hutter's side maintained their hopes of a top-three finish with a 3:1 win at Saint Etienne last weekend, and have now won five and lost just one of their last nine Ligue 1 matches.
Usually an exciting side to watch, high-scoring outcomes have been frequent in Les Rouge et Blancs home games this season. Eight of their ten most recent matches on the French Riviera saw over 2.5 goals scored, including an impressive 3:0 win against Marseille last month. An average of 4.1 goals per game were scored in those ten fixtures.
Lyon come into Saturday's vital Ligue 1 fixture after a potentially damaging 2:1 home reversal against Lens last weekend. A recent spell of inconsistency has seen Paulo Fonseca's side win three and lose three of their six previous Ligue 1 games.
More consistent in the goal markets, remarkably, all but one of Lyon's last 17 games saw a minimum of three goals scored. An average of over four goals per match were scored in those fixtures.
Given Lyon's need for victory, I expect an open encounter with plenty of chances and goals at both ends. BTTS should prove a solid choice, but over 2.5 goals looks inevitable on Saturday.
Over 2.5 goals is my banker pick, while we could easily see a minimum of four goals scored at the Stade Louis II.
