Mainz return to Bundesliga business after a well-deserved 2:0 win against Sigma Olomouc secured their place in the last eight of the Conference League. Second-half goals from Stefan Posch and Armindo Sieb ensured a straightforward victory for Die Nullfünfer.

Urs Fischer's side have enjoyed a solid run of form in the past month, winning five and drawing four of ten matches played across all competitions. However, an inability to turn draws into wins remains a big issue. The hosts have been held to draws in three of their last four Bundesliga games while they have won just six of 26 league fixtures this season.

A poor home record has seen Mainz fail to win ten of 13 Bundesliga fixtures at MEWA Arena. Fischer's men now sit 13th in the division, only three points above the drop zone.

Head coach Fischer has a lengthy list of absentees ahead of this fixture. Benedict Hollerbach, Kasey Bos, Stefan Bell, Anthony Caci, Robin Zentner and Silas are all ruled out.

Eintracht Frankfurt make the trip to MEWA Arena in winning form after grinding out a 1:0 victory against Heidenheim last weekend. Arnaud Kalimuendo opened the scoring in the second period before Robin Koch's red card ensured a nervy finish at Deutsche Bank Park.

Albert Riera’s side have shown some significant improvement in form in recent weeks, with three wins and two draws picked up from their last six league fixtures. Eintracht’s only defeat in that period was a narrow 3:2 defeat at Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich. 

Before their recent uptick in performance levels, Eintracht had won just one of 14 previous matches, with five defeats in six games before a valuable draw at Union Berlin last month.

While away wins have been hard to come by, Frankfurt are unbeaten in three of their last four road fixtures, and in 11 of 12 previous fixtures against Mainz.

Head coach Riera has three injury issues this weekend. Rasmus Kristensen and Ansgar Knauff are ruled out, while Can Uzun is rated doubtful for this fixture.
