Only 10 years after winning the Premier League title, Leicester are facing possible relegation from the Championship. They are in the drop zone, but with one point fewer than safety, so the Foxes still have time to secure another year in the second level of English football. However, Leicester's form offers little confidence, as they have won only once in their last 14 matches across all competitions. In the previous game, Gary Rowett's team played 0-0 on the road against Watford. The guests ended with xG of 2.23, compared with the hosts' 0.25, but their inefficiency cost them points.

A lot of Leicester players played for their national teams in the previous ten days, and the manager, Gary Rowett, talked recently about how challenging it will be to prepare the team for the upcoming game against Preston. He said, "We've got two weeks with a lot of the players not here. That's the challenge. Then, it's a Friday game, and a lot of the players will come back on Thursday, which adds to the challenge. Sometimes, that international break, the thought process of being able to work with your squad, it's actually completely the opposite."

Asmir Begovic, Victor Kristiansen, Aaron Ramsey, Harry Souttar, and Jannik Vestergaard are injured and will not play on Friday night. Also, Jordan James is questionable and his status will be clearer closer to the kickoff.

Preston are a mid-table team, and that will hardly change in the rest of the season. Also, their form is similarly terrible to Leicester's, as Preston won once in the last eight matches. The only victory came in the most recent outing, when Paul Heckingbottom's team won 3-1 at home against Stoke. Although the visitors had an early lead, the hosts dominated the rest of the match and secured the first victory in more than a month. 

Preston's manager, Paul Heckingbottom, feels that his team is playing well for some time. He explained that against Stoke, his team finally turned dominance into goals. Now, Heckingbottom will expect his players to continue in the same fashion on Friday at King Power Stadium. 

Preston will be without injured Jamal Lewis, while Lewis Gibson and Callum Lang are questionable for Friday's tie.
