Leeds’ return to the Premier League has been rocky. Even with only a quarter of the season played, it is clear that Daniel Farke’s men are likely to be involved in the relegation battle, as they currently sit 16th-only one point above the drop zone. Victories have been scarce in the opening phase of the campaign, with Leeds managing to beat only fellow relegation strugglers Wolves and West Ham during this period.

The opening-day win against Everton remains the only instance in which Leeds collected all three points against a side not currently in the bottom three. Their recent form has been poor: they have managed just one win in their last five Premier League fixtures and continue to struggle defensively. Clean sheets have been difficult to come by, with Leeds preventing the opposition from scoring in only 18% of their league matches.

One positive for Leeds is the lack of injuries. Reports suggest that Farke’s squad will be at full strength heading into this match.

Aston Villa have enjoyed a more stable campaign under Unai Emery. After a slow and discouraging start to the 2025/26 season - failing to win any of their first five league matches - Villa have since turned their fortunes around and climbed the table. They are currently one of the in-form teams in the division, having collected five wins from a possible six over the past couple of months. Their only defeat in that period came away to Liverpool on the first day of November. However, despite this significant upturn, Villa’s away form remains questionable. They have won just once in five league matches on the road (against Tottenham) and, more concerningly, have failed to score in three of those five away fixtures.

Unlike Leeds, the visitors face limitations in squad selection. Konsa, Onana, and Cash have all been ruled out through injury.
