Lazio vs Sassuolo prediction 09.03.2026 | Serie A

Lazio are playing their worst season in a very long time, currently sitting in 11th place with 34 points from 27 rounds, and are 13 points away from European spots. Many football pundits call this probably the darkest period for Lazio in their lifetime, and most of the blame falls on the board for lack of signings, especially up front. The fans are extremely unhappy, and most did not want to enter the stadium for the Cup game against Atalanta. It seems that winning the Cup is the only thing that can somewhat save their season. 

After a 2:2 draw with Atalanta, coach Maurizio Sarri spoke to the media. He was satisfied with the performance, but said the lack of fans in the stadium affected the result. The coach admitted there was regret because Lazio took the lead twice but failed to hold it. 

Sassuolo suffered an unexpected relegation from Serie A in 2023/24 but returned the following season instantly. This season, Neroverdi had some ups and downs, but with the latest stint of five wins in the past six games, we can safely say the season was a success. At the moment, Neroverdi are in 9th place with 38 points - four points above their next opponent, Lazio. Still, reaching the European spots seems pretty distant, but we doubt that was their goal before the start of the season. 

In the previous game against Atalanta, Sassuolo won 2:1 despite Andrea Pinamonti receiving a red card in the 16th minute. The 26-year-old will serve his suspension in the Lazio game, along with Nemanja Matic, who collected his fifth yellow card in the previous match. Additionally, winger Alieu Fadera suffered an injury and will most likely miss the upcoming game as well.
