The two nations have faced each other five times since 2015 with three fixtures being in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the other two in the Asian Cup qualification. During this period, Saudi Arabia had the slight edge, registering two wins and two draws, while Indonesia managed just one win.
Indonesia team overview
Indonesia finished fourth in the third qualifying round after picking up three wins and three draws from their ten matches. More disappointing, was the outcome of their final group game, in which they suffered a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Japan in June.
Patrick Kluivert’s side have been good since then, beating Chinese Taipei 6-0 and playing out a goalless draw with Lebanon during the September international break.
Olé Romeny has scored three times in four 2026 World Cup qualifying matches, and the Oxford United forward will lead the line for Indonesia on Wednesday.

Saudi Arabia team overview
Saudi Arabia also had a disappointing end to the third qualifying round, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Australia in June. In the same month, the Green Falcons reached the Concacaf Gold Cup quarter-final after picking up four points from three group games before being eliminated by Mexico.
However, Hervé Renard’s team have been in great form recently and go into Wednesday’s match on the back of two unbeaten games, with one win and one draw, despite conceding the first goal in both matches.
Al Ahli forward Feras Albrikan has scored three goals in 13 World Cup qualifiers and is expected to keep his place up front alongside fellow Saudi Pro League forward Saleh Alshehri.

Prediction
Despite Indonesia's recent strong defensive performances, with four clean sheets in their last five matches and victory in the last H2H meeting, the Saudis' attacking strength and dominant head-to-head record give them the edge. Expect both teams to score, with Saudi Arabia’s attacking efficiency overcoming Indonesia’s resilience. I predict that Saudi Arabia will beat Indonesia 2–1.
Three reasons we expect Saudi Arabia to win this game
- Saudi Arabia have lost only two of their last six matches.
- Indonesia won just two of their last seven competitive matches.
- Saudi Arabia won five of the last eight competitive meetings between the two nations.
