Ilves are playing well in the Veikkausliiga this season. They are only one point behind the league leaders, Inter Turku and KuPS. VPS's terrible run in the last few weeks raised some eyebrows around the team as they lost the last three matches in a row. In the previous match, Jussi Nuorela's team lost 2-0 at home against HJK. The home team firmly held a draw in the first half, but in the second 45 minutes, the guests completely outplayed them and took home all three points.
