Huddersfield vs Reading prediction 03.04.2026 | League One

Huddersfield return to home comforts after slipping to a 3-1 away defeat at Plymouth last weekend. Having led at the interval, three goals conceded in a dismal 26-minute spell in the second half ensured a damaging defeat for the Terriers.

Liam Manning’s side have seen their hopes of promotion dented by a poor run of form in recent weeks. The Terriers failed to win eight of their last ten games, leaving them 10th in the division, now four points outside of the playoff zone. 

A run of just one win in five league games since the end of March leaves the hosts with plenty to do if they are to get back in the promotion race.

Head coach Manning is unable to call on several first-team players this week. Alfie May is suspended while Joe Low, Lynden Gooch, Jack Whatmough, David Kasumu and Antony Evans are all doubtful to feature. 

Leo Castledine, Murray Wallace and Marcus McGuane remain unavailable, while Will Alves, Herbie Kane and Zepiqueno Redmond are long-term absentees.

Reading arrive at Kirklees Stadium with momentum building after an impressive 3:0 win against Wigan last week. Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan bagged a brace as Leam Richardson’s side eased to victory at Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Since the turn of the year, the Royals have picked up the pace as they look to secure a return to the Championship for the first time since 2023. Richardson’s side won six and lost only two of their last 11 League One fixtures. 

Over a longer period, the visitors have lost just four of their last 21 fixtures. Reading now sit sixth in the division, inside the playoff zone, four points ahead of Huddersfield coming into this fixture.  

Head coach Richardson will be keen to stick with the same side that brushed past Wigan last time out. Top scorer Jack Marriott misses out with a hamstring injury.
