Girona vs Getafe prediction 26.01.2026 | La Liga

After a magnificent 2023/24 season, Girona had a terrible season the following year, coming super close to relegation. This year, the Catalan team continued with terrible performances and needed seven rounds to secure their first win. It seemed they would have a hard time surviving this year. However, they turned things around in the past month and a half, winning four of the last five La Liga games. At the moment, they are in 11th place with 24 points. Still, that 11th place looks a lot better than it actually is since they are only five points away from the danger zone. The White and Reds have to continue winning points, especially against other relegation candidates. 

Girona's recent run has been particularly impressive, given their injury problems. For the upcoming match, up to eight players should be included, some really good - Azzedine Ounahi, Cristhian Stuani, Donny van de Beek, Axel Witsel, and Abel Ruiz. Additionally, Arnau Martinez collected his fifth yellow card and will serve his one-game suspension. 

Getafe have been a relegation candidate in the past five seasons, constantly winning between 38 and 42 points. This year, their season has been a stark contrast to Girona's, as Getafe started strong and looked like they could get involved in the battle for Europe. However, since early December, they have been atrocious, winning one point in six La Liga games and dropping to 16th place. At the moment, they won 21 points in 20 rounds - only two away from the danger zone. 

After a 1:0 loss vs Valencia in the previous game, coach José Bordalás spoke to the media. He was frustrated, saying they gave the victory away because of a small mistake. The coach stressed they need to improve and treat every match as a final after coming close to the relegation zone.
