Genoa vs Cagliari prediction 12.01.2026 | Serie A

Genoa return to the Luigi Ferraris Stadium after an impressive 1-1 draw at title-chasing AC Milan earlier this week. Rafa Leao's stoppage-time goal denied the Griffin a shock win at the San Siro.

Despite Thursday's positive result, Genoa remain winless in their last five Serie A games, while they have won just three of 19 league fixtures this season. Daniele De Rossi's side remain 17th in the division, just three points above the relegation zone. 

Particularly poor in home fixtures, Genoa failed to win all but one of ten Serie A games at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium this season. Defensive vulnerabilities have been the biggest issue for the Griffin. Genoa failed to keep clean sheets in each of their last 13 matches. Ten of those games finished with both teams on the scoresheet.

Head coach De Rossi has a handful of expected absentees this weekend. Albert Grønbæk, Maxwel Cornet, Caleb Ekuban, Benjamin Siegrist and Junior Messias are all ruled out.

Cagliari make the trip to Genoa after an entertaining 2:2 road draw at Cremonese earlier this week. Trailing by two at the interval, Yael Trepy's late goal rescued a point for Fabio Pisacane's side. 

The Sardinians have been in decent form since December, picking up an impressive win against Roma (1:0) and a fine road victory at Torino (2:0). I Rossoblu lost only three of their last ten matches across all competitions (90 minutes).

Like the home side, Cagliari have been a solid choice for goal chasers in recent weeks. Seven of their last nine games finished with both teams on the scoresheet. 

Head coach Pisacane has four players missing this weekend. Andrea Belotti, Mattia Felici, Michael Folorunsho and Alessandro Deiola are unavailable for selection.
