Galatasaray vs Trabzonspor prediction 05.01.2026 | Super Cup

Galatasaray are the best Turkish team in the last couple of years. At the halfway point of the Super Lig, Okan Buruk's team is at the top of the standings with three points ahead of the next team on the table, Fenerbahce, while in the Champions League, Galatasaray still have a good chance for the knockout phase with two rounds left. Buruk's team played well recently, with three wins in a row. In the most recent outing, Galatasaray won 3-0 at home against Kasimpasa. The home side dominated throughout the game, and it wouldn't be surprising if Buruk's team scored a few more goals. 

Galatasaray seems very active in the January transfer window. Surely the most significant report is that Galatasaray plans to start negotiations with Mohamed Salah after the end of the Africa Cup of Nations. The club from Istanbul is also interested in Noa Lang (Napoli), Davide Frattesi (Inter Milan), and Giacomo Raspadori (Atletico Madrid). 

Berkan Kutlu and Wilfried Singo are still injured and are unavailable for Monday's game against Trabzonspor, while Kaan Ayhan is questionable. The good news for Galatasaray is that Ugurcan Cakir recovered and should start in the upcoming clash. 

Trabzonspor are one of the best Turkish teams in the last decade. In the current campaign, Fatih Tekke's team is third in the table but has no realistic chance of challenging for the Super Lig trophy. Also, Trabzonspor haven't played well lately, losing three games in a row. In the previous match, Tekke's team lost 4-3 on the road against Genclerbirligi. The teams were pretty even, and a draw was probably the fairest outcome, but the hosts' better efficiency was enough to leave Trabzonspor empty-handed. 

Trabzonspor are active on the market, too. According to the media, they agreed in principle with Wolfsberger's defender, Chibuike Nwaiwu. The medical examination of Nwaiwu will be scheduled upon Wolfsberger's approval. 

Trabzonspor have big problems with missing players. They will be without Rayyan Baniya, Mustafa Eskihellac, Tim Jabol-Folcarelli, Anthony Nwakaeme, Edin Visca, and Okay Yokuslu. Also, Stefan Savic is questionable, and his status will be clearer closer to the kickoff.
