Freiburg are playing a really interesting season thus far. They are sitting in 8th place in the Bundesliga with 30 points, but their performances at home and away have been very different. At the moment, they have the biggest difference in points per game at home (2.1) and on the road (0.75). So, to keep their hopes of reaching European spots alive, winning these home games against teams near the bottom of the league table is crucial. 

Meanwhile, the popular "Breisgau Brazilians" did very well in the Cup competitions, advancing to the Semi-Finals of the DFB Pokal and the 1/8 Finals of the Europa League.

Central defender Max Rosenfelder suffered an injury in the previous game against Hoffenheim and will most likely miss the upcoming game, along with Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, Philipp Lienhart, and Lukas Kubler, who should remain sidelined with their injuries. Moreover, Johan Manzambi is unavailable as he will serve his second game ban due to a red card against Werder Bremen earlier this month. 

Borussia M'Gladbach's results have steadily declined over the past several years. In the previous seasons, the Prussians were mostly a mid-table team. This season, besides a good run in late October and November, they looked like a team that could get involved in a relegation battle. After 22 rounds, they are in 13th place, but only three points away from dropping down to the danger zone. 

Midfielder Rocco Reitz received his fifth yellow card and will serve a one-game suspension in this game. He has been one of their best players this season, and his absence could be a massive factor. On the positive side, Kevin Diks served his one-game suspension and will be ready. When it comes to injuries, the team shouldn't have any new ones. Still, the ones who missed the previous games should remain sidelined - Alejo Sarco, Giovanni Reyna, Nathan Ngoumou, Tim Kleindienst, and Robin Hack.
