Fortuna Dusseldorf vs Schalke 04 prediction 05.12.2025 | Bundesliga II

Fortuna returns to Dusseldorf looking to bounce back from a 2:1 reversal at Dynamo Dresden last weekend. Christian Rasmussen's late goal proved consolation only for the Bundesliga II strugglers.

Markus Anfang's side have been unable to find much winning form in the past couple of months. Fortuna lost six and won just one of eight games played since the start of October. 

The Flingeraner will take confidence from a strong recent record against Schalke. Fortuna are unbeaten in their last five games against the away side while seven of their last eight encounters finished with both teams on the scoresheet.

Head coach Anfang is unable to call on several first-team players. Florian Schock and Sotiris Alexandropoulos are both ruled out until the end of December. Julian Hettwer and Tim Rossmann remain sidelined, while Tim Breithaupt and Matthias Zimmermann also miss out.

Schalke arrive in Dusseldorf in high spirits after a vital 2:1 win against Paderborn last weekend. Bryan Lasme's late goal secured the points at VELTINS-Arena. 

Now two points clear at the top of the division, Miron Muslić's side have enjoyed a strong run of form in the Bundesliga II, with only one defeat recorded in eight games played since mid-September. 

While favourites to maintain their winning form this weekend, Schalke have struggled in recent matches against Fortuna. Die Königsblauen failed to win eight of their last nine games against the home side. Seven of their eight most recent meetings finished with both teams on the scoresheet, and a similar outcome could be on the cards this weekend. 

Still, the Bundesliga II leaders will be confident of taking at least a point from their trip to Dusseldorf. Schalke are unbeaten in 11 of 14 league games this season, including four of their last five road games.

Head coach Muslić has an extensive injury list to contend with this week. Tidiane Touré is sidelined until the end of December with a torn muscle bundle. Tomas Kalas and Zaid Tchibara remain sidelined while Emil Højlund is unavailable with a heel injury. Goalkeeper Johannes Siebeking is ruled out until the end of the year with a broken collarbone.
