Before the European Qualifiers and the domestic Super League start, the reigning champs, FCSB, and the Cup winners, CFR Cluj, will face off in the Super Cup at Stadionul Steaua in Bucharest.

FCSB are the greatest team in Romania, winning their 28th league title last year and the second in a row. Last year, FCSB did well in Europe as well, reaching the EL 1/8 Finals. But, when they were eliminated, they focused on the domestic league and were incredible, going on a ten-game unbeaten run which eventually secured them the title. The Champs will start the season with a Super Cup and then begin their European journey four days later. They should have a pretty easy job in the CL Qualifiers as they will face Andorran champs - Inter Escaldes.

CFR Cluj have been the best team in the league from 2017/18 to 2021/22, winning five consecutive titles in that period. And in the last three, they failed to win another title, but at least finished in the top three and secured themselves an appearance in European Qualifiers. In the pre-season, they looked good and entered the season on a positive note. Five days after the Super Cup, Cluj will start their Europa League Qualifiers against Paks (Hungary).

FCSB vs CFR Cluj pick: Over 2.5 goals

FCSB were excellent for this bet in the pre-season, winning two games against Almere City and Utrecht while scoring six goals. Last year, especially in the last part of the season, they were excellent offensively and have only improved the squad in the pre-season. So, it is fair to expect another good offensive display.

CFR Cluj also had an excellent pre-season, winning three and drawing one in four games against solid competition - Debrecen, Ceske Budejovice, Grazer AK, and Slovan Bratislava. They scored 11 goals - 2.75 per game. Mainly due to an excellent offense, they went over 2.5 goals in three of four matches. Looking further back, FCSB went over 2.5 goals in six of the last eight matches - 75%.

Additionally, in the recent three Super Cups, we saw three or more goals on two occasions. Considering all the above, an over 2.5 goals bet looks like the best option for this Super Cup tie.
