Exeter vs Leyton Orient prediction 28.03.2026 | League One

After four seasons in League One, Exeter are in danger of relegation to the fourth level of English football. With five rounds left and the same number of points as the first team below the line, Exeter urgently needs points. However, their current form is far from encouraging. Matt Taylor's team hasn't won since January. In the previous game, Exeter lost 2-0 on the road against Wigan. That was another terrible performance from the guests, especially defensively. 

Matt Taylor was appointed as Exeter manager about three weeks ago. However, the team lost all five games with him. After the most recent defeat, he said that his team is sleepwalking toward relegation. Taylor also added that they are making obvious, avoidable mistakes in defense. 

Exeter have almost a full squad available ahead of the match against Leyton Orient. Pedro Borges is injured, while Jake Doyle-Hayes and Jack Fitzwater are questionable, and their statuses will be clearer closer to the kickoff. 

With six points more than the drop zone, Leyton Orient still needs one or two victories to secure its place in League One. They are in excellent form, having won their last four matches in a row. In the previous game, Leyton Orient won 2-0 at home against Wycombe. The hosts expected a much harder match, but after the visitor's Taylor Allen received a red card already in the ninth minute, Leyton Orient dominated the rest of the tie.

Leyton Orient's manager, Richie Wellens, was very satisfied after another victory. He sees the recent excellent run as a product of the club's good work in the January transfer window. Wellens commented, "I felt the players we'd brought in were different from the ones we'd lost, and I enjoy working with them. They're coachable, and they want to learn. Sometimes when you get a group of players at the end of January, you work, work, work, but it doesn't happen straight away. You get the fruits of your labour further down the line. That's always happened – it takes time for them to get going."

Leyton Orient will be without Aaron Connolly, Rarmani Edmonds-Green, and Jordan Graham on Saturday in Exeter. Also, Tobi Oluwayemi is questionable.
