On Saturday evening, the last two EURO U21 champs, England U21 and Germany U21, will face off against each other in the Finals at Tehelné Pole in Bratislava.

England U21, a three-time EURO U21 champs, is headed for another final. They won the last tournament in 2023 when they had a fantastic generation with Cole Palmer, Jacob Ramsey, Curtis Jones, Anthony Gordon, Levi Colwill, Jarrad Branthwaite, and many other outstanding players. This generation might not look as good on paper, but it is still filled with excellent players. To be fair, their performance in the tournament could have been better, at least in the Group phase, considering they barely secured the knockout phase. However, they impressed in the knockout phase by eliminating Spain U21 and Netherlands U21.

Germany, another three-time champion, won their last title in 2021. In the last tournament, they had a debacle, finishing the competition in the group phase. This year, their performance was fantastic, winning all five games, although one after the extra time against Italy U21. Interestingly, the bookies see the Germans as the slight underdog. Currently, the bookmakers offer odds of 2.0 on them and 1.9 on England U21 to win the title.

England U21 vs Germany U21 pick: Over 2.5 goals

Both teams played almost exclusively high-scoring games in the EURO U21. England U21 were over 2.5 goals in four of five matches and Germany U21 were over 2.5 goals in all five matches! Combined, they went over 2.5 goals in 90% of their matches.

Throughout the tournament, these teams did well offensively. They improved even further in the knockout phase, scoring five goals each, at least in the regular time. So, it is fair to expect them to offer another strong offensive performance.

These teams met in the group phase, with Germany U21 winning 2:1. Still, England deserved another goal, considering they had 18 goal attempts and 1.63 xG.
