Dunkerque vs Reims prediction 09.03.2026 | Ligue 2

Dunkerque had a solid season last year, finishing 4th and qualifying for the playoffs. Unfortunately, they were eliminated from the Semi-Finals by Metz (1:0), which went on to secure promotion to Ligue 1. This season, they had some ups and downs but are still in a solid position to secure a playoff spot again. Even though they are in 8th place, the playoffs are only three points away. However, they are definitely in poor form and have a big reason for concern. 

According to credible sources, the squad will be without coach Albert Sánchez, who accumulated yellow cards in the previous matches. Additionally, Aristide Zossou suffered an injury in the previous game and will most likely miss the upcoming game. Besides them, Felipe Abner, Inigo Eguaras, Marco Essimi, Thena Massock, Vincent Sasso, and Eddy Sylvestre should remain sidelined with their injuries. 

Reims suffered a pretty unexpected relegation from Ligue 1 last year in their seventh consecutive season in the top-flight. This year, the Red and Whites are looking for an instant promotion. And indeed, they looked great for most of the season, but are undoubtedly in poor momentum. A loss against Strasbourg is definitely tolerable, but four goalless draws in Ligue 2 against mediocre competition before are undoubtedly a reason for massive concern. Even the coach Geraerts admitted in earlier interviews that they are having problems with efficiency. Still, despite that poor run, they are in 4th place with 42 points,  only four points away from direct promotion. 

After a 2:1 loss against Strasbourg in the Cup, coach Karel Geraerts spoke to the media. He said the game almost went their way, especially because the team defended well for most of the match. The coach added that they held well, but noted two late penalties ruined their effort.
