- Kickoff: 18:30 UK / 19:30 CEST
- Venue: Dr. Constantin Radulescu
On Thursday, FC Lugano will be looking to show the same dominance in possession against CFR Cluj as in the first leg. The two teams will meet in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round at the Dr Constantin Radulescu Stadium after a 0-0 draw in the first game.
In the first leg, FC Lugano were the dominant team on home soil, but were unable to convert their high possession (77%) into significant goalscoring opportunities. It would be naive to expect the Swiss Super League team to dominate the game with the same conviction in the away match, but they will certainly not allow CFR Cluj to dictate the game at will.

Prediction
After the goalless 0-0 draw in the first leg in Switzerland, CFR Cluj should have been given a better chance of progressing to the next round based on home advantage alone. However, FC Lugano were so dominant in terms of possession in the first leg (77% compared to 23%) that if they manage to at least halfway repeat this dominance on Thursday, they have a very good chance of at least securing a draw in regulation time. What's more, CFR Cluj have also failed to impress in the domestic league so far - they suffered an unexpected 2-1 defeat against Arges Pitesi. Our betting tip is that FC Lugano will achieve at least a draw on Thursday (double chance x2).
Three reasons we expect Double chance x2
- The first leg ended in a goalless 0-0 draw
- FC Lugano dominated possession, having the ball for 77% of time during the course of 90 minutes
- CFR Cluj were defeated by Arges Pitesti 2-0 in the Romanian Superliga at the weekend, indicating their vulnerability
Main prediction CFR Cluj - Lugano
Lugano win or draw (X2)
