Cardiff continue their pursuit of Championship football when they take on AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday evening.

League One leaders Cardiff return to the Cardiff City Stadium in high spirits after a comfortable weekend win against Luton while Wimbledon arrive in Wales following a thrilling road draw at Barnsley.

The Dons scored a dominant victory when these sides last met just two months ago, but recent form suggests a different outcome could be in store this week.

Cardiff team overview

Cardiff return to home comforts just three days on from a fine 3:1 win against Luton at this venue. David Turnbull opened the scoring as the Bluebirds scored three goals in an impressive-first half display on Saturday.

An excellent run of form has seen the Welsh side avoid defeat in 11 games played since a 2:1 defeat at promotion rivals Lincoln in December. Since that reversal, Brian Barry-Murphy's side won seven and drew four of 11 League One fixtures.

Particularly strong in home fixtures, the Bluebirds won 13 and lost just two of 16 League One games at the Cardiff City Stadium this season. Barry-Murphy's men sit at the top of the division, six points ahead of nearest challengers Lincoln.

Head coach Barry-Murphy is unlikely to make too many changes from the side that eased past Luton. Top scorer Yousef Salech remains sidelined with an injury issue.

AFC Wimbledon team overview

AFC Wimbledon make the trip to the Cardiff City Stadium after an entertaining 3:3 draw against Barnsley last weekend. Omar Bugiel bagged twice in a topsy-turvy contest that saw the Dons fight back from two goals down, before throwing away a 3:2 lead in the dying embers.

A lack of consistency continues to hinder Wimbledon's season. Johnnie Jackson's side won four but lost five of their last nine games. The Dons remain 15th in the division, just seven points above the drop zone.

Similarly inconsistent on the road, Wimbledon won six but lost seven of 16 away League One games this season. The Dons did score a stunning 5:1 win at this venue in an Football League Trophy contest two months ago.

Head coach Jackson has no reported injury issues ahead of Tuesday's League One clash.

Cardiff have an exceptionally strong home record, and they should fancy their chances of maintaining winning form this week.
