After their return to Serie A, Cagliari had two similar seasons, earning 36 points in each and finishing 15th and 16th. In the last game, Cagliari lost 2:0 to AS Roma, but were on a superb three-game winning streak before that last loss. So, the Islanders will be looking to get back to winning ways against Lecce, which really struggled on the road this season.

After a 2:0 loss against AS Roma, coach Fabio Pisacane spoke to the media. He said Roma made things difficult for his team and stressed how challenging it is to compete with such a quality team. The coach wasn't too unhappy with a loss since there is a big gap in quality, and said they have to move forward. 

Lecce are playing another bad season and are hovering around the relegation zone, as they have in the past three seasons. Initially, it seemed they might avoid that struggle, but an eight-game winless streak made their situation much more precarious, which they managed to stop with a victory over Udinese in the last round. Now, I Giallorossi are sitting in 17th place with 21 points from 24 rounds. At the moment, the bookies offer odds around 2.62 for them to get relegated, with only Cremonese, Pisa, and Verona having lower odds. 

After a 2:1 win over Udinese, coach Eusebio Di Francesco spoke to the media. He acknowledged the fans' criticisms and accepted it, but also called for support in the relegation battle. The coach eventually praised the team's spirit and said the win was a result of a collective performance.
