A vital fixture in the fight to avoid relegation in Italy takes place on Saturday as Cagliari welcome Cremonese to Sardinia.
Both teams come into this clash in poor form, with Cagliari looking to bounce back from an away defeat at Sassuolo, while Cremonese return to action after a home loss against Bologna.
The spoils were shared when these sides met earlier this year, and another tight contest is expected this weekend.

Cagliari and Cremonese have met on just three occasions since 1996. Cagliari claimed 1:0 Coppa Italia wins in 2020 and 2024 before a 2:2 draw in Cremona earlier this season.
Cagliari team overview
Cagliari return to the Unipol Domus looking for their first win since January. Fabio Pisacane’s side fell to a 2:1 defeat at Sassuolo in their most recent outing last weekend.
Now winless in eight Serie A fixtures, the home side have picked up just two points since a 4:0 win against Verona in January. More recently, Cagliari lost three of their last four matches, with all three games finishing with both teams on the scoresheet.
A high-scoring outcome offers plenty of value this weekend. Cagliari have seen over 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four games. With both teams defensively vulnerable, another competitive contest with goals at both ends seems likely.
Head coach Pisacane has a couple of injury worries this weekend. Mattia Felici is ruled out with an ACL injury, while Leonardo Pavoletti faces a late fitness test.

Cremonese team overview
Cremonese arrive in Sardinia after a disappointing 2:1 home defeat against Bologna last weekend. Federico Bonazzoli’s stoppage-time penalty proved consolation only for Marco Giampaolo’s side.
Like the hosts, Cremonese have endured a miserable run of form this year. I Grigiorossi lost 12 and won just one of 17 Serie A games since mid-December.
Defensive vulnerabilities have led to some high-scoring encounters in the past month. Four of Cremonese’s last five games finished with BTT and over 2.5 goals scored. Both of those selections landed in their previous meeting against Cagliari - a 2:2 draw in Cremona earlier this season.
Head coach Giampaolo has four selection concerns this weekend. Youssef Maleh is suspended following a red card, while Antonio Sanabria and Jamie Vardy are ruled out through muscle injuries.
Morten Thorsby also faces a late fitness test.

Prediction
Both teams struggle to keep clean sheets, and I expect that pattern to persist in Saturday’s Serie A contest.
BTTS is my preferred pick at Unipol Domus.
Three Reasons Why We Expect BTTS
- Cagliari have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 5 matches
- Cremonese have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 4 matches
- Cagliari claimed a 2:2 draw when these sides last met earlier this season
