Interestingly, these teams have met in the FA Cup 1/32 Finals in mid-January, with Bristol City dominating and winning 5:1. They have also met in the league this season, with that match finishing in a 1:1 draw. Looking further back, over the past ten H2H games, each team won three games.
Regarding the number of goals, four of the past ten H2H games ended with three or more goals, while both teams scored on five occasions.
Bristol City team overview
Bristol managed to secure a playoff spot last season, for the first time since their arrival in the Championship in 2015/16. Unfortunately, they eventually failed to come out of the playoffs, but could have another chance this season. The Robbins are sitting in 8th place with 50 points from 34 rounds - four points away from the desired sixth place. At the moment, they average almost the exact number of points as last season, when they reached the playoffs. So, we can safely say they can be satisfied with their campaign, especially since they were projected to be in the lower part of the league table before the start of the competition.
After a 2:1 win over Blackburn, coach Gerhard Struber spoke to the media. He said it was a difficult match, especially after Blackburn took an early lead. However, he said they reacted well and controlled much of the first half. Coach Struber eventually praised the attitude, engagement, and creativity in possession.

Watford team overview
Watford were eliminated from the Premier League in 2021/22 and really struggled in the following seasons, being nowhere near returning to the English top-flight division, or even the playoffs. The Hornets started well this year, but a terrible period between mid-January and mid-February pushed them to 12th place. Because of that terrible stretch, the club sacked the coach and appointed Edward Still. Under the new head coach, the Hornets won once, drew once, and lost once - a far from impressive start.
After a 2:0 loss to Ipswich, coach Edward Still spoke to the media. He said it was a "game of two halves", but admitted they should be more aggressive. The coach said they failed to execute and noted they improved after halftime, but lacked finishing in the final third.

Prediction
Even though Bristol City have been pretty inconsistent, the Robbins are still in a much better form than Watford, having lost just once in the past four matches. They have also been very good at home lately, winning four of the past seven games. One of the wins in that period was a massive one against Watford (5:1) in the FA Cup.
Watford, on the other hand, won once in the past ten matches! The Hornets also struggled on the road this year, averaging only 1.0 points per game, compared to 1.78 at home. Right now, they are on a five-game winless road streak, and it is unreal to expect a great performance.
Considering all the above, we believe the hosts are much closer to winning the upcoming tie.
4 Reasons why Bristol City should (AH 0) win
- Bristol City lost once in the past four matches
- Bristol City won four of the past seven home games
- Watford failed to win in the past five road matches
- Bristol City won the previous H2H game 5:1
